Barbara Breedlove a native of Pine Bluff, Arkansas attended Dollarway High School where she was a three-year varsity athlete and standout guard for the lady cardinals, with record setting average for points per game. During the sophomore, junior and senior seasons – Breedlove averaged 16, 22, & 28 points, respectively.

Upon graduation from high school, Breedlove enrolled in University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff as a student athlete (1979-1983) Majoring – Math Education with Cum Laude Honors. On the court as lady lions’ basketball player, Breedlove was a four-year Letterman as starting point guard posting eighteen points per game and awarded the highest GPA Award on the Women’s Basketball Team (1979, 1981,

&1982).

Breedlove was tabbed as the team’s Outstanding Player of the Year (1982)

Upon graduation from the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff – Breedlove embarked upon a very accomplished professional coaching career, with over 30 years of basketball coaching experience on the high school and collegiate level, with a 294-199 win-loss record.

Breedlove is known as being a Championship Team Builder – where she developed Miller Grove High School Girls Basketball program in Atlanta to five winning seasons. Which included, Georgia High School Association 2012 AAAA State Championships and 2013 AAAAA State Championship Runner-Up Honors.

Breedlove also considered a ‘Turnaround Specialist” – revamped Texas College program, resulting in a transformation that improved its win-loss record by 11%. Breedlove also rebuilt Ridgeway High program, moving it from winning only ten games in 17 years to appearing in four consecutive state playoffs.

Breedlove has coached on both the collegiate and high school levels from Forth Worth Texas, New Haven Connecticut, to Atlanta & Decatur, Ga.

Breedlove also known as a “Starter and Leader” – she started the Women’s Basketball program at Atlanta Technical College in 2001. She also led numerous basketball camps – teaching youngsters aged 8 to 18 drill completion and the benefits of mental and physical conditioning.

Speaking of Starters – Breedlove started the state’s only high school barbering program, teaching fundamentals to prepare students for the career, providing practical skills necessary to enter into apprenticeships and barber school.

Breedlove has been promoting overall players growth and academic success for decades. Her Honors and Awards are numerous- to name a few:

  • 2020 Hall of Fame Inductee at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff
  • Atlanta Journal Constitution Coach of the Year (2011 & 2012)
  • Who’s Who Among America’s High School Teachers (2007 & 1993)
  • Coach of the Year – Texas College (1999)
  • Coach of the Year- Class AA Girls Basketball – Tennessee Athletic Coaches Assoc. (1998)
