National Alumni Center Building Committee Update
DR. LARRY COOPER, CO-CHAIR ALUMNI CENTER BUILDING COMMITTEE
We first want to acknowledge the passing of our dynamic leader and co-chair of the Alumni Center Building Committee, David Walters. David was very committed to raising the money required to build the National Alumni Center. He has laid the foundation for a successful campaign to achieve the objective of raising the $2.8 million for the construction of the facility. He will be greatly missed.
The past year was a very good year for The Alumni Center Campaign. We are coming to the end of the year, and we are approaching the million-dollar mark of funds raised for the center. Plans were in place to reach that goal by the end of the year. But the untimely death of David put a damper on that objective. He had responsibility of the third leg (The Partners Program) of the triangle that was created to raise approximately $250K by year end.
We will put a focus on three areas of our fundraising efforts for 2023. (1) We will continue to do call-out campaigns. We were very pleased with the results of the call-out campaign this past year. (2) We have a team that is dedicated to strictly reaching out to alumni and friends of The University that have the capacity to make major contributions. There are still $100K, $50K and $35K recognition categories available. (3)The Partner’s Program has potential of making a significant impact on our fund-raising efforts.
So, for those who have yet to contribute to the center, please consider giving and let’s make The National Alumni Center a reality. We are counting on you!
